Degree course
The course for fashion stylists imparts a wide range of basic fashion knowledge and individual consulting skills. It also promotes both practical and creative skills in the areas of styling, fashion and lifestyle.
Prospects
Fashion stylists work as creative individuals in the fashion world. They can deploy their skills in a wide range of areas: from individual personal styling to assisting designers and through to using their skills on a commercial level in the field of e-commerce. Fashion stylists develop and design looks for private individuals, companies, fashion magazines, advertising campaigns and designer lookbooks.
They generally work as freelance fashion style coaches, personal stylists or fashion stylists. This course is also aimed at specialist retail sales consultants who want to develop their customer consultation skills.
Scope of activities
Specific areas of activity include:
- Implementing concepts for commercial and editorial clients
- Trend research and style development
- Advising customers in different target groups
- Implementing and documenting projects
Content
The course covers the following core areas:
- In-depth examination of the fashion world and its laws
- (Further) developing participants’ fashion awareness and style
- Researching fashion and lifestyle trends
- Practical development and documentation of styling concepts for private individuals, companies, fashion magazines, advertising campaigns and designer lookbooks
- Using visualisation in the form of storyboards or in shoots for personal portfolios
- Using different communication methods when consulting
- Marketing, communication and management
- Developing a personal network of customers, store managers, designers, photographers and other specialists

Requirements
- It is recommended to have completed vocational training in the fashion industry or a related profession but this is not a prerequisite
