Thanks to their advanced management skills, textile business management graduates assume managerial roles in diverse lines of work. The dynamic job market in the textile industry offers positions in purchasing, sales, and category management.

Scope of activities

The Textile Business Management bachelor degree course is designed to prepare graduates for the following scope of duties.

 

  • international purchasing or sales (B2B or B2C) of raw materials or textiles
  • supervising multi-channel management appropriate for the target group
  • management of complex production and procurement processes in areas such as inventory management, logistics, and supply chain management
  • quality assurance

Requirements

  • Completed apprenticeship (Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training) in the field of textiles and the retail trade or
  • commercial apprenticeship or
  • an apprenticeship in a different industry or an equivalent qualification (e.g. baccalaureate, federal vocational baccalaureate or specialised school certificate) with placement or vocational experience

 

During the course of the study programme the student must hold a half-time position (at least 50%) in the textile industry for the degree to be recognised by the state.

 

Depending on their prior education, students must complete entry modules on the topics of textile studies, product knowledge, fashion, accounting, and business/law before starting with the degree.

Teaching materials are included in the tuition fees. Additional costs apply for excursions.

Note

Course will be held in German. Modules relevant to the Bachelor’s degree will be held in English from the 5th semester on. The STC offers corresponding preparation courses.

Pflichtmodule

The course of study is fully modularised. Students attend modules of 45 or 90 lectures. The degree course focuses on subject-specific modules to form the basis of the managerial role. Interdisciplinary modules supplement the course of study.
