As a textile technologist you are involved in the design, development, processing, finishing, and inspection of fibres and textile fabrics. You operate machines, systems and computers. You monitor processes and analyse product quality.
In accordance with your training company you can define the content of your training and its main focus. The work places and activities vary according to whether the selected specialisation is in processing, finishing, ropes and lifting technology, mechatronics or design.
To start an apprenticeship as a textile technologist you must have completed elementary school. You should bring good manual dexterity, good technical understanding, and a sense of colour and form.
Textile technologist – Federal Certificate of Vocational Education and Training – specialising in:
- Design
- Finishing
- Processing
- Cable and hoisting technology
- Mechatronics
During the three-year training period textile technologists attend lectures at the STC vocational training school 1-2 days a week.
